The impact of probiotics on human health has been substantiated for many years as they have been advocated for the prevention and treatment of a wide range of diseases. In recent years, the application of probiotics for oral health has attracted much attention. There is an increasing body of research which suggests that probiotics could be useful in the prevention and treatment of oral problems and infections such as halitosis, dental caries, and periodontal disease.
